SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Apple Computer Inc. <A HREF="http://go.reuters.co.uk/financeQuoteLookup.jhtml?ticker=AAPL.O&qtype=sym&infotype=info&qcat=news">AAPL.O</A> on Wednesday posted a 41 percent increase in quarterly profit, beating Wall Street targets, and said sales of its highly successful iPod digital music player topped 8.5 million.
